Backpacks
Legacy MS Backpack Policy
At Legacy, student safety and future-readiness are always top priorities. As we begin the new school year, we will transition to a backpack-free environment on campus.
With over 1,200 students arriving each day, ensuring the safety of everyone is essential. We’ve found that many students carry backpacks without needing to use them during the day, and checking each bag thoroughly is not feasible.
We're also preparing students for success in an increasingly digital world. Much of their classwork—and testing, including STAAR and MAP—will be completed electronically. To support this shift, all necessary supplies will be provided in the classroom.
Students may bring a small bag, about the size of a clutch (4.5" x 6.5"), to carry personal hygiene items, writing utensils, or other small essentials.
To help with the transition, students may bring backpacks on the first two days of school (August 7 & 8). Beginning Monday, August 11, backpacks will no longer be allowed on campus.
We appreciate your support and understanding as we work together to create a safe and forward-thinking learning environment.
